WordPress is a vast place. It’s a platform that transcends national boundaries. I’ve had people from all over the world click on and read my blogs. There’s something humbling about that, I don’t know. It gives me the right to say, “Hey! I got a global audience, you know that?!”
The map above illustrates my worldwide readership. The pink areas are where my website’s been visited.
The fact I have 3 African countries on there is just amazing. The Internet is truly disseminating throughout the developing nations, giving people access to others thousands of miles away. I’ve had several folks hailing from Africa message me on Twitter, offering me greetings. They’re nice, civilized people that make the best with what they have. I truly admire them.
And that big, glaring gray blob on the upper-right corner is Russia. I have readers from China, Africa, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan…but none from Russia. None. From. Russia.
WHAT THE. FRICK, MAN?!
IS PUTIN REALLY THE CRYPTO-FASCIST DICTATOR PEOPLE SAY HE IS?????
IS THE INTERNET AS NONEXISTENT AS SUNSHINE OVER THERE?!
Not ONE person from Russia knows about me: Corey E. Toomey???
Okay, okay…before this gets out of control…
Before you start assuming I’m being facetious like my last milestone blog….
I’m being real here, 100 WordPress followers is pretty good. I’m genuinely proud of this.
The journey so far has made me appreciate all the work that goes into blogs. All the writing, editing, and marketing.
The best part of this is I still have more work to do. Much more. And that’s fine, because this is work that I actually enjoy doing.
Do what you like and you’ll never work a day in your life, right?
What “work” is better than self-expression?
So, to all my followers: Thank you. Better times are still ahead.
