Happy Fourth of July to all my followers!🥳
Yes, that extends to my international followers, too! The Fourth of July doesn’t have to be exclusive to those living inside our borders, you know!
America is Great!
I don’t intend to say this braggadociously, but I believe America is, and has been, a force for good in the world since its Founding in 1776.
We have waged wars against Slavery, Fascism, and Communism.
And guess what? We won every single damn one of them!
This is not to say that your primary allegiance needs to be to America, instead of the country of your origin. Hell, even the Brits can celebrate with us! 🍻
We forgive you guys for firing your muskets at us! And stabbing us with bayonets! Don’t worry, everything’s cool!
“Happy” Independence Day?
Needless to say, this year’s Independence Day is a sadly unconventional one. There’s COVID-19 putting a monkey wrench into things, I’m sure you’re aware.
I was excited to watch the famed Blue Angel Airshow in Pensacola today. Unfortunately, they cancelled the air and fireworks shows to discourage crowds. The local government is doing what they can to stop the virus from spreading.
My state of Florida has closed the bars. Diners are only open at half-capacity, so things are less than stellar.
Where’s the Celebration?
To make matters worse, protestors are trying to erase or privatize monuments of our past. There’s even talk of disposing of Mount Rushmore! That landmark is as American as it gets!
The rationale being that the men immortalized on the mountain, were slaveowners and racists. If you’re going to focus on a person’s negative attributes, you might as well not immortalize anyone at any point in history.
Imagine this happening in 100 years: Will we remove Barack Obama’s name and visage from public places because he didn’t agree with polyamory?
Or recreational drug use? How about zoophilia? Pedophilia? Or making animals natural citizens?
OR…you get the idea.
Leftist progressivism is constantly moving forward, such is the nature of the beast. They’re constantly moving the goalpost. Don’t think for a second that leftists will never spearhead movements for the aberrant practices listed above.
But answer me this query: Would it be fair to destroy Obama’s memory after he leaves the world? Why or why not?
This is what a lot of these protests are aiming for. They simply want to scrutinize historical figures because they were flawed human beings.
Why not just appreciate what Washington did during the Revolution? Or appreciate what Ulysses Grant did for the Union during the Civil War?
America wouldn’t be the country it is today if not for these two and many others.
Focusing on the negative is a conscious choice. It breeds negativity and divisiveness. Being negative will not allow you to see what’s great if it’s staring at you in the face.
This year’s Fourth of July doesn’t have us celebrating America, but rather trying to defend America. This Fourth of July has us trying to save America, even. It’s truly a sad state of affairs.
Look, I love America.
I love all the opportunities it affords its citizens, and the innovative climate that has prospered. This climate has not only benefited us, but people around the world, too.
American Bill Gates has poured billions of dollars into Africa to fight AIDS and hunger.
Elon Musk, from South Africa, went to America to realize his potential and bring his projects to fruition. Now he’s working on getting humanity to Mars. Elon has also been talking about creating worldwide Internet access (yes, for Africa, too).
Felix Kjellberg (aka PewDiePie), a native Swede, has used YouTube, an American company, to distribute his entertainment videos. Now, over 100 million subscribers later, PewDiePie has done very well for himself.
Now, as I type, I’m chasing an opportunity to get my content out there.
I’m utilizing products and services by American companies (WordPress, YouTube, Amazon, and Anchor). These entities have been a major help of working towards my goals.
Guess what? I have America to thank for that, and so do you.
Respect your damn country.
